Thank you for all the nice comments. The finish still has a few bumps in it left over. I was afraid to do more and loosen the grain filler a really mess up the finish. Is is not perfect, but at least it isn't a new finish and a new color, but the original finish that has been repaired. I tried to save every bit I could and just smooth out the alligator "bumps". They were very tall, like 2mm to 3mm tall and hard to dissolve. With a spray bottle of denatured alcohol and steady brushing with a 2inch foam brush, most of them finally came out. The brake and casters came from George V. and the key came from "phonofreak". Advice came from many forum members and for all of the parts and advice I am very grateful. If anyone has a line on where one could get the correct albums, please let me know and I will pass the info on to the owner of the machine.

The machine is in the home of my next door neighbor who wanted it. His grandson is interested in phonographs and comes over to look at an listen to mine once in a while. The grandson purchased a poorly restored silvertone machine last year and his grandfather wanted him to have access to a "better" machine. He plans to give the machine to the grandson at some point.

I am still intrigued by the "second hand victrola special license" sticker and the fact that is was sold by the Aeolian Company. I also found the name Volkem scratched into the underside of the motor board along with some numbers. The family that sold the machine said they never had it worked on and do not recognize that name. The name on there, so far is a mystery.

Thanks again to the members of this forum, this machine would not have been saved without them.

Matt
