It's not a bad little machine is suppose. The record cabinet door would be a bit annoying though. They probably sold more of this one model in 1917 than they sold cars that year lol. It's a bit over priced imo, but he might get lucky and some owner of a Meteor might want it.
I love the BS some sellers include in their ads, like how he's kept it in good working order since his father died.
I guess the must have changed the oil, tuned the motor & changed the head gaskets every 500 miles. ;)

Yeah, but that fugly grill job! Sheesh!

Seems like I have seen more sellers get excited over 'Meteor' phonographs and want outrageous prices for them, than any other off-brand gener-o-phone.

ha, my first though on reading the title to the thread was "Paramount"!!! But looking at this machine I agree with the comments above!

There's no doubt this thing is remarkably unattractive. I think I may have seen a "Meteor" phonograph at an antique mall back home, but I'm not sure. What I may actually have seen was a phonograph with the brand name "Comet" (obviously my memory is not clear on this). Was there a Comet Phonograph Company?

Also, if this phonograph falls over and hits the ground, does it become a meteorite? ;)

The machines are considerably more common than the Meteor records. The records have the odd convention of listing what is on the other side of the record as well, IIRC.

I'm not aware of a 'Comet' label, but I think I've seen 'Cupid', 'Donder', and 'Blitzen'. ;)
