i would use ron for sure he is the best ... but nothing sounds like those originals and trail by error will never hurt you....like j said be gentle with those , the sound is great on those originals and i have seen some wonderful restorations of the original that work great...good luck and email if you need help....kind regards,

Those replicas sold by Ron (going by the photographs) look superficially authentic, but there is no way the cork damper made from compressed cork particles is going to be as stiff as an original slice of solid cork that was cut along the grain and then trimmed and sanded down to a tapered circle. They simply won't have the same effect.
