I recently picked up a minty little Victor brass belled horn. It is 16&⅝" long with a 12&¼" brass bell. I looked in my "Victor Talking Machines" catalog printed by The Talking Machine Company sometime in late 1907 (based on the testimonial letters). From information in the catalog, I believe the horn is a N Black-Japanned Steel Horn. I believe 1907 was about the time that Victor transitioned from the black and brass horns to the Flower horns. The catalog offers the Victor II with the G horn (11&⅜" brass bell) for $30 or the #19 Flower horn for $31. This particular catalog does not offer other horn options for the Victor II. In the same catalog the Victor III was offered with the H horn (13&¾" brass bell) or #19 Flower horn for $40. The catalog lists the Black-Japanned Steel Horns, which modern collectors refer to as black and brass horns, with letters (from small to large horns) B, M C, D, G, N, H, J, O K, & L.

Now for the question!... What was the intended machine for my little N horn?

Re: Question about a Victor horn

Re: Question about a Victor horn
My Victor II Humpback came with this horn as original equipment. My Victor II Humpback is the early one with a slotted crank. I think this is the correct horn for the early Victor II Humpback.
