Victor III - is this a Victor horn?

Looking to buy this Victor III I've never seen this model horn before on a Victor. Could it be right? The rest looks ok? Any and all opinions welcome!

That is a typical German "Peacock" horn which has had the ornamental rim cut off. It has been butchered and has no value. Consider it as a machine with no horn.

I suspect Estott is correct but it would be nice to see a photo of the small end of horn. We would get clues as to whether the horn was cut down to fit in the elbow and if there's a pin to catch the elbow. The slotted screw and washer are a good indication that something is not correct. Be cautious, it does look like a nice Victor III with a horn of little or no value. Jerry Blais

Those horns have a slot to engage with a pin on the inside of the elbow. Columbia imported some, but they were made with threaded ends.

Of course estott is most correct. The horn is worth absolutely nothing and is (was) European in origin. Even if the horn was in decent condition....value is minimal in North America. Therefore, you are looking at a Victor 3 without horn.

Thankyou all! Yes the horn is a wreck! I have no IRL access to the machine as of now, then the next question is really which horn goes with the machine and how hard would it be to find one. I suppose that in the US it would be easier - here in Europe Victors are scarce and the His Masters Voice machines here are often different - depending on country of origin. Anyone know which horns would be right here?

There should be a lot of HMV horns that would certainly fit properly and look nice with the machine. They wouldn't have been sold originally with a Vic III of course.

I agree with Bruce. Although a HMV horn is not correct. To have a correct Victor horn shipped to Europe will be very expensive.
Horns for the most part are over the size limit set by USPS shipping abroad. Therefore, you would need to use a courier like UPS or FedEx and cost $$$$.
A correct horn for a Vic 3 would be one of four choices. A black & brass horn with 13 ¾" bell. A Black flower horn 19" wide or either of the two size oak horns.

Thanks a lot for your answers! Now I know what I'll have to look for should I be able to buy the machine. I feel I would want a Victor horn though, maybe coming to the states at some time I could bring one back, that shouldn't be too hard on a plane as luggage, well packed. I've travelled with stacks of records / well packed / and that's worked out fine.
It's really too bad about the sizes of shipping horns between Europe and the US! I have a nice 11/panel cygnet someone here on the Forum would have bought and needed / but the size was just over the limit for posting and it would have been ridiculously expensive to send so it was a no-no.
