Like I said, very interesting...

Your very welcome. Keeping the reproducer in it's box was suggested by Victor while not in use (going back to Berliner). The #10 was a $10 extra cost if ordered loose. So, 10% of a Victor 6's worth at $100. $5 if order with the machine. So, if a Victor 6 was ordered with a #10, the factory paper underneath will state $105. The paper will state $100 if ordered with a plain gold concert or gold Exhibition.
I did not know that. :o I have never seen this in any of the manuals. And I'm not removing reproducers on any of my machines now. :? Should I be doing that?

Thanks again
Andreas

I can't tell you to remove your reproducers.... . I'm sure no one does now. I do know that some #10 owners do not keep them on their machines. I do.... ;).

If you read some of the early reproducer boxes......you can read the recommendation.... :D.

I have a couple of questions on the machine and the No.10 reproducer. Did Victor always put a decal on the brass morning glory horn? This is the first time that I've never seen that. Second, I see the differences between an No. 10 and a Concert reproducer which seem to be cosmetic. Do they perform the same, or does the No.10 perform better. I have never seen a gold Concert reproducer. Does anyone have any pictures of one?

Very Nice Pete. Nice to have the fiber horn. I too just bought one of those horns. However, it comes with a factory red interior. I am having it restored as we speak. It also has a wonderful VTM decal and another decal that has never been seen on a Victor horn before. It is a Victor decal and I plan to do a little write-up on the horn when finished.

Here is a sneak peak of the horns wonderful red color.

Harvey, as far as I know......all Victor horns of this period had a decal. However, because the horn is all brass. It is assumed the decals were lost to polishing. Something you would not have done on other Victor horns.

Regarding the reproducers....the #10 is constructed unlike any other reproducer. It is big and very heavy. Too heavy for playing records....I think. Also the gold disc in the center acts as part of the diaphragm. In other words....the hole in the mica is almost the same size. Therefore, the disc impedes the sound.

The gold concert is exactly the same as a nickel one we all see around.

Pete, since you are the proud owner of a Vic 6, can you show us more of it. With the paper mache horn, I'm curious what price the label states underneath. Can you tell us if your machine has the ball bearing race (early) under the table...??.

Does your horn still retain the VTM decal..??.

Here is the VTM decal on mine....

I thought that Santa had passed me by, but NO!
He brought a really nice VV-130!

Included were the instruction book and fancy scroll key!

Here are some before-and-after pictures after cleaning the wood with GoJo:

This was my first four-spring motor rebuild. Those 17-foot-long springs are a challenge-not too mention all the pesky dried grease particles so easily tracked on the floor!

It looks and plays like a champ, and I'm very happy to have gotten it!
Best wishes to all.
