The ones we have here in e. Pa. don't stink until you smush them; they don't seem to like that, as you can well imagine! As has been noted, they seek warmth at this season of the year. A favorite refuge is the window AC unit, where they lie peacefully warm until the first time you turn it on, at which time they are blown out of the innards and into the room. When I find them in the garage, I go for the ShopVac; this is remarkably effective. :twisted: The last 2-3 years they haven't been so numerous as the first year we had them, when there were swarms of them. If you do choose to mash them, I suggest using a tissue, folded double or triple to shield your fingers from the unpleasant odor.

Unfortunately, the birds shun them as well. I was hoping to enlist their aid and at the same time save money on seed, but no such luck. :(
