I recall reading somewhere that E. Johnson fought selling console systems for that very reason. He was worried folks would start using them to hold up chatz-ky and would not buy records. As we all know, Nature abhors a horizontal surface.

The only thing I allow on the lid of my Credenza is dust! I only have 2 machines with lids, the other being an Edison C 19 and the rule is the same for that too. I have a friend who learned the hard way to never stack records on his Credenza: he forgot they were there, lifted the lid and they all slid off behind the machine and shattered.

That VV230 is gorgeous. If I collected big machines I would want one for sure.

I think you coined a new word there-"cralectables" Heh Heh!

Brad, I do believe you are right. Johnson didn't want the flat-topped consoles at first, hence the humpbacks.
