The Pooley Company was better known as a supplier of gramophone cabinets to other firms, and as a manufacturer of record storage cabinets, but here we have a machine bearing the Pooley name. An unusual item to find in the UK.

There is one of these on craigslist near Washington DC. it looks like all the veneer has been pulled off leaving the red oak planks. Description says Oak Cabinet could use refinishing. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ ... 74641.html

With just over a day to go, there is no interest at the starting price of £140. Horizontal grands are not usually popular with UK collectors because of the floor space they occupy.

In my opinion it isn't selling because it has a cheap appearance. Pooley was capable of building high end pieces, but this isn't one of them.
