This price had nothing to do with the cylinder or its (possible) recording of a third rate singer. Sole reason was the uncommon box label.

On the other hand, I have seen brown wax cylinders selling for thousands of $$$ regardless of the box.

Brown wax, rare, if not very rare box, original slip, all in what appears to be very good to excellent condition. Likely would have gone for more, possibly much more, in a Nauck auction.

The moe. laughing record, I created and featured on the 2004 Jammy Award Winning Album,
"Wormwood" went for almost $500.00 at a charity auction, the band hosted. I wonder how much, if found, the live recorded, lost Bob Dylan cylinders, made at the Joliet 66 Raceway would go for? I wonder if they are in some collectors collection, or broken and gone?

On that note, does anyone have other Berger cylinders / boxes out there or know anything about the company? I wonder if there were any connections with Edison beyond acquiring, repackaging and selling their cylinders?

As noted on the record boxes, the Berger Phonograph Company was located at 156 & 256, The Arcade, in Cleveland. My son tells me that The Arcade still stands in Cleveland. You can see the period Berger operation on the first and second levels to the left in the photo below (click twice on the photo to blow it up)...

Here are a couple of Berger boxes. I believe the one on the right is the earlier style.

You're very welcome. The photo was posted on Shorpy.com a few years ago (a wonderful website). :)

At first glance, the building appears deserted, but close examination will reveal several "ghosts." I count 6, including a woman possibly pushing a baby buggy! :)

It appears that this was purchased for the box, their appears to be some historical interest in The Arcade.
