Whoohoo! :)

A Schubert! I couldn't be more excited.

Thanks, Ralph, for adding it to your growing list.

You're absolutely welcome, Fran. They are strangely compelling machines. Hope you have fun with it--and after it's all set up, switch a reproducer between it and one of your Chippendales--and let us know which horn seems to do the better job.

So glad to hear; it's going to a good home. Looking forward to details in due course. Fran, thank you for offering earlier to solicit information from the seller.

that Schubert looks like a nice machine. But, I'm always skeptical when I see a photo that doesn't show the legs! years ago I bought a Schubert on Ebay for $500. The pics only included close up pics looking down so you couldn't see how long the legs were. It was located in Philadelphia, so I had to pay about $500 for shipping. This was earlier in my collecting so I was naive that there could be amputated machines out there. When I got it, everything was good on the machine except the legs had been cut off long ago. When I contacted the seller, who was an antique dealer selling it for an old lady, he said he never knew it even had legs. Since I would have to pay another $500 to return it, I just kept it. This Schubert that Mr. Paul bought, I'm sure is fine since a very experienced collector is buying it, so he got a great deal!

The new Schubert is No.5451.

The seller is the granddaughter of the original owner. The machine has sat in the attic of the grandmother's house for decades and is complete, unmolested, and in very nice condition. It went straight upstairs into the collection, as all it needs is a light cleanup and lubrication (which is good because my shop is full!). :)

A two and a half hour drive each way, but I'd do it again just for the records.

It's been a long time since I bought something out of a house! :)

Best to all,
George P.

Would have been 3.5 hours each way for me, but I couldn't go until Wednesday - which might be why they did not respond to my emails.
