A 1920’s Vitaphone Western Electric Movie Theatre Phonograph with Record in "as found" project condition. The Vitaphone led the sound revolution in film! It allowed the professional sound effects and music found in the larger first-rate movie theaters to be played in the small town movie houses. This piece was found in one of those small town movie theatres. Included is the cast iron base, center piece and phonograph portion. The projector was not found with this unit. Present is the original 16" felt turntable, Western Electric tone arm with reproducer and hold down piece. This is a very unique turntable with the tubular guard surrounding it. This very large phonograph piece is mounted to the base with homemade connections, see photos. The 15 ¾" disc record found with this unit is titled, "Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony", No. F8-5. This one-sided VICTOR VICTROLA record shows some scratching and a bit of roughness however, may be playable. Although this unit is not complete, it could be restored. The total height when assembled measures 52". The base measures 3’ 2" in height by 2’ wide. The turntable guard measures 22" wide.
