This early and very rare item was the first development of the "Trade Mark" gramophone. If anyone has the necessary parts to complete it, the journey to Cumbria will be well worth while.

The only one I saw was at the Phonogalerie in Paris. It seems to me that the parts would be even more difficult to find than the box.

I am the 'fool' that paid a high price for an empty cabinet of this rare coin op gramophone. It just happens that I have 2 of these rare coin op Gramophones. One I purchased years ago from Phonogalerie and is completely original and pristine. The second machine I bought recently at auction via Internet thinking it was complete and original as advertised, only to find that while it had a complete and original mechanism and hardware, the cabinet was a not original but a modern copy and not so great copy of an original cabinet. While disappointed I always ascribe to the buyer be ware philosophy, you win some you lose some,(I took a few lumps on that one). I had been considering having a better copy of my original cabinet made, but when I saw this eBay auction I had to pinch myself. I never even dreamed of finding an original cabinet, definitely a needle in the haystack find. While it was a little pricey (I hoped to get it for much less), it was worth every penny to me for an opportunity to make my machine correct and completely original. I have to give thanks to epigramophone for alerting me to this auction, which I probably would have completely missed without this TMF post. Thanks Epigramophone!!

This is quite interesting! Amazing how McLuhan´s metaphore of the "global village" now became ordinary reality - from the US you bought an extremely rare machine from a museum in Paris, found another one somewhere in the world, was alerted via a worldwide forum by an English enthusiast that a missing part was lying and being offered for sale in the backroads of England so you could complete your machine.

Congratulations for the feat of being probably the only owner of TWO Berliner coin ops!
