Repair/Rebuilding a Diamond D Reproducer

Post by cweastlick »

I have an Amberola 30 with a Diamond D reproducer. The string is broken and there is another part (I don't know what it's called) that is broken. I'm assuming it will need a new stylus, etc. Any recommendations on who does this?

Could it be a Diamond C? The Diamond D was used for the Amberola 60(Table Top) and the Amberola 80 (Floor Model). Both machines are very rare and scarce. It is pretty tricky to attach the silk thread link to the diaphragm and stylus bar. I would send it to Steve Medeved and have him rebuild the whole reproducer.

Harvey, you are correct. I was thinking C and typed D. I think I've spent too long this evening in the shop smelling lacquer thinner. How do I get a hold of Steve Medeved?

Hi cweastlick,
I also think Steve is the best man for this task. I have sent a pm with Steve's email address.
