Has anyone ever made good quality transfers from their Edison laterals, and sell them later.
I did that years ago.
Some of my favorite transfers to mp3 was Ermine Calloway "I want to be bad"
Olaf by Miss Patricola; Tip Toe Through the Tulips by the California Ramblers and "On with the show" Medley by Edison All Star Ensemble.
I would not mind putting one of these into production for a 4 minute cylinder but would need commitment to get this project started, would cost about $ 350-400 in US currency to start the project. I could probably offer the first 10 cylinders at 65.00 each plus postage.

Re: Transfers from Edison Laterals
It's not a bad idea. I also have considered going for "I want to be bad", as I own both the Edison stamper and the playable mother. But I'll probably look out for a selection with a stronger band accompaniment to go for a cylinder.
I also have a some nice regular needle types to be worthy looking into, but have admit to have become quite picky about what to issue and not. It's not as easy to sell 10 copies of the same song in such a niche.

I agree with you on that. It takes alot of money and enough orders to offset the cost. There are just so many great titles as you know from the late 20's on the Edison label.

I could't agree more with you. The biggest problem are the high initial costs. I would definitely like to go for more variety. But with even sold 10 copies being a challenge, I had to learn to be cautious. Just going break-even is not a goal to be always reached.
Maybe there will be a cheaper solution available in the future with new materials and/or manufacturing processes.
