Vic 6 or VV-VI
I'm not up on my Vic 6's but I know this isn't a VV-VI! What say the experts.Frankenphone? Thanks.

I don't bill myself as an expert, but that is a VV-VI body and crank to which what looks like a Vic III horn (repainted), tone arm, and bracket have been attached. Can't quite make out the reproducer.

the ID Tag looks like it was moved from the left side to the front. Are there four small holes on the side?? Also see if you can check the back for modifications around the horn attachment... Better yet see if you can look inside. Could be a 55 56 57 58 59 Cadillac from parts. Looks nice though. How much is he asking??? Tom B

Lucius: You are absolutely right. That is not a VV-VI case. I just enlarged the pic and clearly saw that it was not that. My mistake.

It looks to be a VV-VI case with the front doors removed and replaced by a panel--an assemblage of parts from different machines somebody had in their garage.

It looks to me like a great deal of effort, reproduction parts (cheap aluminum elbow and probably a reproduction horn), combined with Victrola parts and result is worse than a total waste. It confuses the phonograph community today and as long as it passes from one person to another. An antique shop that gets burned by garbage like this is reluctant to get involved with future machines.
I assume everyone here knows that "VV" as in VV-VI stands for "Victor Victrola". For some time now on the Forum I've referred to machines by verbiage that is less confusing. I use 'Victor III" instead of "Vic III". It is confusing when talking about a machine that were both horn machines (Victor VI) and Victrolas (VV-VI).
