Thanks for the video. The mandrel should spin more freely than that after removing your hand - but you're close! The belt pulley screw looks like it is protruding a bit. That screw should be at or below where the belt rides between the pulley shoulders. There should be a small flat washer on the mandrel shaft between the belt pulley and the casting boss/mandrel shaft bearing. Make sure that the spacing between the belt pulley and boss is not too tight or too loose. Also be mindful of the screw that tightens the mandrel bearing in the casting boss. Occasionally the casting boss screw, if too tight, can affect the position (and therefore rotation) of the mandrel shaft within that bearing.

If the wire is present, it must also be secured at both ends. If it is not, the governor spring assembly will move back and forth along the governor shaft. Grab the small end of the governor spring assembly and see if it slides back and forth on the governor shaft. If it does, then one end of the wire is not secured. With a wire that is correctly connected to both the collar that is secured to the governor shaft in the middle of the governor spring assembly and the collar at the small end of the assembly, you do not need a set screw to secure the assembly. The wire acts as a stabilizer in place of that set screw and allows for smoother governor operation.

By the way, I just checked 2 other machines and they are all missing the screw going on the right which is im guess what y'all are talking about. They all run perfect...now I'm confused at which one y'all mean.

Thanks for all the info! Learned something new today but it looks secured and straight.

Can you post a picture of the mandrel shaft that is closer to the mandrel where it goes into the bronze bearing.. Thanks Tom B

Forget the governor issue for now. It may be juts fine. Once you get the mandrel spinning freely, the top gears adjusted and lubricated, you might need to adjust the feed-screw half nut. One problem at a time. You are getting very close! By the way, it could juts be the pictures but, it looks like the bottom drive gears are pretty dry. Be sure they are lubricated properly.
