Pathé model VII

Post by lhlyda »

Hello all, looking forward to interfacing with you all. Im new to all this, I like to restore vintage radios, but never tried anything like this. I picked this up locally yesterday and interested in restoring it for myself. So, Im open to all suggestions.

Thanks

You'll find basic restoration tips all over the board using the Search function.

The one problem that our machine will almost certainly have is that the swiveling reproducer head is probably locked in place due to swelling. The head is designed to swivel to 2 positions to play both vertical (grooves go up-and-down) and the far more common lateral (grooves go side-to-side) records. Your reproducer is currently in the lateral position, so it should play the usual "78" records just fine.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply and info. I have a lot to learn about this machine. Im sure the motor will have to be rebuilt. I havent picked it up yet, it is at a local antique store and It was raining when I bought it. Its only a couple of miles away, and maybe tomorrow I will have some help getting it. They had told me before they bought it, it had worked, but they felt that someone cranked too tight and now the crank just slips. I would like to see one rebuilt, perhaps on youtube? Thanks again!
