Grafonola Advertising Sign - Any info?

Post by sdrefs »

Hi - I picked up the attached grafonola sign awhile back. I've searched high and low but can't seem to find anything similar. Anyone have any information on the sign re: the age? Thanks!

It looks very interesting. Is it tin, cardboard, or paper? What are the dimensions? Thanks, Jerry

See if you can find out when the Red Cross Pharmacy was in business and that might give you a clue. Also, not sure what model Grafonola that is on the sign, but that is probably your biggest clue to age...

The Grafonola pictured on the sign looks like a Model 100 from about 1915-18. That should give you a general idea when that sign was made.

I've seen three other COMPLETELY IDENTICAL signs over the years. I own one of them, and had the opportunity at the time to buy another from the same antiques dealer. My wife couldn't blame me for the purchase once she saw it advertised The Red Cross Pharmacy, Coon Rapids, Iowa.

Best sign ever!!!,
Bob COON

P.S. I've never seen one of this style sign advertising another store or location.

Great sign! I wish I had one like it. I have a lot of metal signs, but this one has never crossed my path.
