I would like help from the collectors out there to see how many Victor #10 reproducers there are left.I would also like to note the serial numbers as well as if with case.Last,if yours is on a Victor 6.Is the price paper on the bottom at $105.00.The correct price. There is talk that about 8 or so are left and two with the case.would like to think there are more.
I have already counted the one owned by the late Arron Cramer.

Here is a photo of another No. 10 with box. The photo was taken in 2005. Once I was offered a No. 10 without a box. If I remember correctly it was serial number 70.

I don't think I've ever seen one until now.... do they have any particular advantage over an Exhibition, No.2, No.4, etc?

Advantage!!!!sure, there great to use as a "recorder"
.I say this because they are so darn heavy.I would never play a fine record under one of these puppies. They look great, that where it ends.I would have to think that's why they were replaced by Victor.I think they even offered past customers a chance to trade the one they had for a exhibition. Thanks Starkton.....that's now three with box.Can you imagine the sound going up the bar and then instead of hitting the mica, the sound then has to pass thru a brass disc which is attached to the mica.....
bad design!!!!!.

I have to agree with gramophone78. My first thought when seeing the pics of this was "Holy Cow!" It looks as if it could wear out a record in one or two playings.

Re: Survey: number 10 reproducers
I could imagine that the brass disc at the diaphragm's center was intended to improve the overall pressure to the mica. It would basically have the same purpose as a large dome on one of the floating cylinder reproducers. Anyway, very beautiful for display. How much is the weight of these?

About the same price as a Victor VI alone.Zeppy wrote:Any clue how much one could fetch?

Or, how their orthophonic diaphragms use the spider for the same effect. Even without the spider the ortho's metal diaphragm is designed to move more like a solid disc, getting more flexible from the center to the outer circumference. Looking at this number 10 though, I wouldn't rule out them adding the brass disc simply for classier looks!WDC wrote:I could imagine that the brass disc at the diaphragm's center was intended to improve the overall pressure to the mica. Thanks for starting this thread! I haven't ever seen or read about one of these. They are really beautiful reproducers. (Even though they may not be good for record wear.)
