Needle tin with a scratched message

Post by budsta »

While dusting, I also dusted my needle tins. Even though they are in a cabinet, after 15 or so years they still have accumulated a layer of dust.
I can't remember where I got this one but I have had it for a while.
I don't know why you would do it. There must not have been anything else at the time to write it down so it is scratched onto the tin.
Which I think would require quite a bit of skill from the Bing Crosby fan.

"I don't know why you would do it..."

I agree... I can't think of a reasonable or sane explanation...

Especially since it is apparently referring to March 9, 1937 and September 18, 1937 - "Tuesday 9-3-37 this 18-9-37 Sat. Bing Crosby" - what relationship could these two dates have with each other...? Obviously, it's not a reminder to set the DVR to record a broadcast on DISH TV...

Probably just dates when he'd be performing live somewhere and the "writer", (scratcher?), didn't have anything else handy to jot down the dates with. Could also be movie release dates. Sept. 17, 1937 was the debut of "Double or Nothing". Maybe the film would be showing on the 18th in the scratcher's home town?
