Victrola knobs

Post by Ampico66 »

I picked up a nice Victrola X spider leg model from 1912, but the little screw-in knob has fallen off. The back end of the knob is a wood screw, not the machine screw like every other Victor knob I've seen. Do any other Victrolas use that little screw-in knob? Of course... I'm in the market for one, too. ;)

The very early Victrolas use those type of knobs on the doors. I have seen an early model IX (tabletop model) that uses those as well. I think Wyatt's Musical Americana has them, but they were quite a bit more expensive than the "regular" Victrola knobs.

I found one of those knobs the other day, and at close inspection the wood screw part actually unscrews out of the knob.

I have a XII and a table top XI that both use that kind of knob.
