There is a glass eyed one on etsy that needs a lot of work. https://www.etsy.com/listing/552878686

Poor, decapitated Nipper... $200. In this condition, $50 would be a lot, considering how much time and effort it would take to sculpt replacement legs and try to make him look normal again... OR, you could display him "as is" next to your Victor VI... maybe hanging from the ceiling and hovering over it.

Thanks, I contacted the seller and asked if their price was flexible. I would like to try a demanding project like this Nipper but not at $200.

Jerry,
He is the perfect candidate for "Angel Nipper" - a unique Christmas item... Just add wings and a re-paint, along with some glitter... Then re-sell on Etsy as a charming example of repurposing a rare antique item.

Seriously, I think he can be restored, but it will take a lot of determination and some engineering. His legs could be rebuilt by starting with a wire armature to build upon and mainly to keep him from sagging... Maybe use a coat hanger doubled up and insert both ends into an electric drill to twist them together for strength, then drill Nipper's body and insert them using epoxy. Once they are secure, you can build up the legs slowly, maybe with epoxy putty initially to create a rough form, then paper mache to finish the details...? The leg and paw details seem to be the most challenging, but you have other examples to go by.

I used a similar method to restore my Pathé Rooster, who had broken legs and he is as strong as new...

If you decide to take this on, please document all of the steps and post them... Good Luck :clover:

I received a reply from the seller which said she would pay the shipping. But that leaves a $200 Nipper that needs both ears, both front legs & paws and both rear feet and that's still too much. Jerry

Yeah, but it is an antique. ANYTHING old is worth a fortune...

Please carefully look at the photo in Curt's post. I'd be interested in knowing what others think is a fair price for this Nipper.

Thanks, Jerry
