If the box fits...

Post by The_Forager »

I'm having great fun with my Chromogram Micro-perophone MP22, it came with an HMV 4 sound box which does a solid, utilitarian job of mining the gold in them there grooves but having listened to a friends EMG and heard what my Meltrope can do with the all important mid-range I yearn for new and exciting sounds.

In pursuit of this I purchased a Lenthall having seen a review my the EMG Colonel on Youtube.

It arrived in all it's burnished golden glory but it doesn't fit the tonearm of the MP22, just a couple of thou' too tight.

Is there anything I can do? Or has my lack of knowledge caused me to buy the wrong thing?

Many types and sizes of adapters were made, some to alter the tonearm diameter and some to change between bayonet and continental fittings.

I would see if Chunny Bhamra has a back rubber that would make it fit - he makes a variety of those. I use a Meltrope III on my EMG Mark IX and it has a replacement rubber from him.
