Tried my best to unbending the horn, worked out ok considering my lack of appropriate tools, going to paint it tommorow.

Re: New amberola 30 project
Reproducer and horn. I will wait a few days for it to set, and I'll knock down shininess with steel wool. As for the reproducer, I've found a replacement for the neck, but it's not the right color. I will either keep searching or settle with a gold colored neck

Great job!
Did you use paint, or find a japanning method?

The japanning is for the bedplate and carriage, this is just a black spray paint.tesch1932 wrote:Great job!

Re: New amberola 30 project
Progress progress! Thanks to VanEpsFan1914 (Charles F) for graciously donating some original veneer, it turned out pretty well. I've stripped the bedplate and cabinet, ready to be re-stained and refinished.
For replacing the veneer chips, I cut in straight lines, and used an exacto knife to cut pieces to shape. With trial and error, I got to a pretty satisfying point and blended it in pretty well, it will be much less noticable when refinished (i hope...)
I bought rustolium glossy engine enamel, but I might just order the duplicolor brand since other people seem to have good experience with it.
I also found some zinsser amber shellac. Quick question, should I do a coat of shellac over the Edison decal? Clear or amber?
Thanks
Martin

Cabinet is stained and ready for shellac.
The corner didnt turn out perfect, but a lot better than before. Hopefully with more experience these patches will look less obvious

The patches look a lot better on your machine than in my garbage can--which is where they were headed.
Nice work & I like how this one is coming along.
