Is this a brunswick?

This photo is from a local auction site for tomorrow. No photos of lid up, it looks a lot like a brunswick but I don't have any catalog to confirm it. Anyone recognize it for sure?

That be a Brunsy. Hopefully the tone arm is in good shape and it has the wooden record boxes.

I concur, since I used to own a model 117 myself. It was the second machine
I ever bought behind my Cheney console. Mine was not in as good shape as that one
though, it was pretty rough.

I too think it is a Brunswick machine. During the auction preview, check it over and see how it compares to the photos the others have provided. You may want to take a Brunswick record and new needle along to play it if possible.

Thanks for the replies, I had hoped someone had farther information about it. I see it has more decoration on the trim than the one 'antique1973" has on it. Would that perhaps make it another model, perhaps a step or so upward? Or is it maybe older with more carving? Haven't looked at the link provided yet, am going to do so now.
I don't know that I would actually buy it unless its a really good deal, and that is iffy at times here. I have a nice similar model but the grill and some trim is different. Mine does have the siding drawers for records mentioned.

I went to that site and the 117 is shown, but this one is a 217 according to the photos shown. In the 227 chinese cabinet photo it mentions the same machine was available without the painting know as the 217. It has the carving on the upper corners as the one in the auction that the 117 does not. What a cool site though. Its amazing what you all can find when you try.

That's interesting how it has some extra carvings, I would imagine that model is not as common.
A major thing to consider is the condition of the tone arm and whether the reproducer will swivel
freely like in the photo below. Much of the value of a Brunswick is tied up in the
status of the tone arm and reproducer so it would be a good idea to ask the seller to demonstrate
the functionality. Bringing a diamond disc and a Pathé disc is probably a good idea for testing
purposes. Be sure the seller swivels the head, the pot metal could crack apart in your hand if
forced even slightly.

Turned out to look a lot better in the photo than in person. It had been more or less tampered with by someone. The spring was broken, the tone arm was spray painted gold and the turntable was missing the felt.. I didn't wait to see what it went for as It was a huge sale and it would have been hours from now before they got to it. Some woman and her daughter seemed to be mildly interested in it, but I doubt when I told them the spring alone plus shipping was going to probably be almost what a decent one went for elsewhere.

That must have been disappointing... How much were they asking for it?

I really like my Brunswick, and at 50 bucks, I couldn't beat the deal. I just wish there was a way to find out more information about my model (or even what the model number is, for that matter).
