Garrard No 11A

Post by gokenyon »

Hi there,
I am refurbing a Hines Table Grand.
Have limited knowledge of this unit, and it is a first for me.
I am looking for new springs for the double spring motor. 1 of the ones inside is damaged.
Or a new motor unit.
See pics.

Mike (user soundgen on this forum) is the man to write to for replacement springs.

Sorry for a silly question... Are the springs really damaged, b broken, or they are simply dirty...? So much old dried grease must be cleaned first, unless the spring is really broken or badly out of shape and this can be clearly seen through the black stuff... If you clean them you can get a good surprise, these springs are incredibly durable...

Hi,
Yes,
one of the springs (the one in the pliers has a tear in it about 2/3rds of the way through about 1 cm to the right of the pliers. Hard to see with a ll the grunge. Will clean up for a better look.
Thanks for the response.
Gareth

Did you get your springs ? I have plenty of old stock new mainsprings that came from a gramophone repair guy who died locally to me a few years ago . I probably have a complete working 11A motor which may be a cheaper option for you . Where are you located ? Let me know if you're interested. Regards Dulcetto

Hi there
Not got a resolution yet. Original spring is definitely damaged and too difficult to repair.
So if a motor unit and/or two springs are available, I am looking to purchase them.
Please PM me with price and delivery to Strathaven, Scotland.
Thanks

Please note that I suggested you to buy these springs from user soundgen (who is the seller in person) on post #2. It was mid September.
