In a Persian Market. Full tone from the True Tone #2

Post by larryh »

This record has always been one of my favorites for how much progress Edison made in late Acoustic Sound. If your able to hear this on some decent speakers you will pick up the over all effect. Its not totally like in person, buts it pretty close. What I look for when I work on Diaphragms is the projection of sound. Some diaphragms have a reasonable performance but some sort of sound like they are playing inside the machine. I have always tired to get the music out of the machine and into the room so you loose the effect of simply a horn playing. This record is one that really stands out for that purpose. The other side is good as well but not quite as impressive as this side. I put it up a day or so ago, its "In a Chinese Temple Garden".

Larry, I wonder how Mr. Edison would have reacted to your diaphragm? You think he’d give you a spot on his team?

Andy,

Perhaps he might have liked it. I really couldn't say since so far I have never heard an original that played well. Steven M says mine sounds better than a new original and that was before this latest improvement. I feel sort of odd bragging about the sound produced but from the start my entire reason for doing all this was to have people like you and others able to really hear the amazing sounds that the Edison could make and at the time was far from that. I do feel good though each time I have made a stride toward even better results. Frankly had it not been for my posting of Hermans and Mikes decent sounding diaphragms with good volume, I may never have moved farther than the last version which was quite well received by those who had it. The amount of improvement this time has even surprised me.
