David, I am new to the forum, but would like to thank-you for all of your efforts. I truly like the forum in the short time I have been here and have enjoyed reading through the topics, both current and past. I saw some of the performance issues that were occurring, but it does seem to be better.

I also have an IT background and know how work can keep you extremely busy at times, so much so that when you do have free time you may not feel like addressing issues at the forum. I have donated using the button you added and hopefully receiving some compensation for your effort will help...

I am sorry to hear of your friend, I know how hard that is...

Thanks again, I hope the forum members come together to support you and the forum.

Thank you for all that you do.

I'd kind of been wondering what all that HTML code
was that popped up suddenly and randomly yesterday.

Certainly there has been some sort of a power
struggle here that has been ongoing for some time now.

And, of course, there's always the push by certain
folks to get this place all tucked neatly under the
ubiquitous APS paywall ASAP.

I've always really liked the way this place works.
It's great, it's easy on the eyes to read.
Has always worked fine for me.

I honestly do not understand the need for constantly
always wanting to change things which appear to
work ok.

One thing I can always know for sure however is:
If it works nice, then it can't possibly exist
for very long.
Power struggle? I'd characterize it more like pleas for help gone unanswered for years?.

Tucking it in under the "ubiquitous APS paywall"? First time I've heard that one. I know there's been interest in convincing current owner to migrate the site over to APS since it's costing him money and he has not posted in several years, has no interest in antique phonos.

Working nice? If working nice means going to the site and hoping it opens within the next 10 minutes and sometimes getting lucky, okay...

I certainly appreciate those that took the initiative to make this site available and the efforts by HisMastersVoice over the past few years keeping it up after the owner(s) lost interest. I would disagree though that today it's working nicely and I would not interpret a desire to fix what's broken to be some sort of power struggle. :monkey:

Chuck,

Really? I'd be very interested in seeing evidence of this. Please share that - - specifically the part about making people pay.

I'm going to keep my mouth shut... But I will say I genuinely enjoy the forum over Facebook, but this is all just getting out of hand almost demeaning.

Your interpretation is flawed. The APS has invested significant time and trouble to support and preserve the present TMF, doing everything possible to avoid what might be construed a hostile takeover or a power grab. Evidently, that effort was not entirely successful, although I'm baffled as to why.

I'd encourage you to read this associated thread, particularly the posts made on April 23, 2019:
