The case to this VV-XVII was trashed. Not one decorative bit of woodwork escaped being chipped or badly dinged. At least the metalwork can be re-used!

White vinegar will dissolve animal-based hide glue that you're likely to find on older furniture.

how on earth did you get the license notice off w/o tearing it into a thousand little pieces? I don't think I've ever seen one that was not on a machine!
