Is this a legit tinfoil... or what is it?

It looks kind of like a tinfoil machine, or is it...?

This has been for sale on eBay for many months now, starting around $9K and bouncing up and down ever since. The seller has mostly listed it as a Buy It Now offering, but more recently has tried either combination BIN / Auction or straight auction. Typically when it would end with no bids, he would relist it at a higher price before coming down weeks later. Just within the past month it went unsold at a starting bid of $750, so the relisting started at $784. Now it's down to $500, a fraction of the original BIN, but it still has not attracted any bids. I think that says it all.

It's a junk collection. There was a post a while back about it. I'll see if I can find it...

If somebody needed some brass stock for a project, or was restoring a sewing machine, this would be just the thing.

Question is, who are these "punks" anyway?
And why are they messing around with "steam"?

Looks like a White or Wheeler and Wilson treadle stand.
The flywheel on the “phonograph” looks to be off of a White or New Home sewing machine.

Clearly a fake and certainly not one from the early 1900s ( this is clearly not a 120 year old garage experiment).

The mandrel is from either an Edison or a Columbia. So if someone back then had that then they would have had access to the rest of the machine which would have been far more efficient to use then this sewing machine device. Hence they would not have made it.

It closed last week with no bids at $500. Today it was relisted with a $350 start and no reserve. I'll be very curious to see if it sells now that he has cut his starting price by ~95%.
