Turntable adapter for Talking Machine Company model A

Post by GoCOOGS! »

Hi all! I acquired a beautiful Talking Machine Co. Model A last month. As we all know, it’s a scheme machine so it only plays records with the oversized “Standard” holes. I found a dealer on Ebay that sells turntables that fits the phonograph that can take standard (no pun intended) sized holes. It’s not cheap but not overly expensive. It’s made out of a nice solid metal and has a very nice green felt. I really like the fact that it’s “plug and play” that is, there’s absolutely no modifications needed. It’s nice in the sense that now I can play regular and “Standard” 78s on my phonograph.

Good enough! That phonograph looks like a Columbia BN with a bit extra decal work on the front--while not identical it at least shares many parts.

By the way, the phone is great. I assume it is a Northern Electric?
