Re: Interesting Edison Letter
That truly is an interesting letter. Here we have the old man himself copping to the inferior quality of Diamond Discs due to wartime shortages. The reasons for inferior sound quality have been well known, but does anyone know of any similar written admission/explanation from Edison himself?

Re: Interesting Edison Letter
At least Edison is giving a candid and straightforward answer to the question. Such a very interesting letter.

Re: Interesting Edison Letter
Speaking of interesting letters... Actually it's more an interoffice memo, but it's 8 pages long; from Frank Dyer to Thomas Edison, and it's a fascinating look at the activities surrounding the development of the Blue Amberol. Dated June 22, 1911.
"But that's over a year before the Blue Amberol was introduced!"
Yep - and you won't believe Edison's approach to the new format. Read all about it in the next issue of The Antique Phonograph! (No - mine's not here yet...)

Re: Interesting Edison Letter
This letter is fascinating to me. It, too, reminded me of the fantastic article & memo I read in this month's The Antique Phonograph concerning the development of the Blue Amberols. I love this topic and thanks for sharing!
