Does a Victor The Fourth have a unique motor

I picked up a Victor IV basket case today. It had been re-motored, but fortunately for me, they didn’t have to add a new crank hole. I know that it should have a 2 spring motor. If anyone knows, please let me know what to look for. Thanks

How about that, I am 2 posts from being a Victor IV. This machine was a surprise because I bought a parts lot for $150.00 on Facebook and this was included. It’s rough, has extra holes in the motor board, no elbow and the wrong motor, but I’m still happy.

The same motor was used in the Victor III and some of the early Victrolas like the table model VV-X and XI. The same basic motor was used in the early VV-IX and the spider leg X. Sometimes the motor was mated up against a metal plate so the spindle is too short to pass through a thicker wooden deck as found on the Victor IV. Other times the motor was turned 180 degrees so the threaded crank shaft comes out on the other side of the motor. So it is possible to find a motor that would work on your project Victor IV although some would need modification.

Thanks, Jerry and Bob. I have an early VV-X Motor and female crank that might work. I can make the longer spindle shaft. I will check it out this weekend.

It turns out that I have a motor and crank from an old, early VV-X parts machine. Now I have to find a 10" cast turntable, an elbow and a horn. Cool.
