The original spindles on Aretino machines were not designed to be removed. The whole idea was to force the owner to purchase records of the appropriate spindle size. However, once those special records were no longer available, many, many owners adapted their turntables to play conventional records. Some of these conversions are themselves over a century old now!VanEpsFan1914 wrote:
Will this machine play regular 78s? I always thought the adaptor was an integral part of the turntable but I do not know Aretino phonographs; there was one of them in a collection that I got to see but other than that they are something of a mystery to me.
