Personally, I regret the demise of the show that used to be in Delaware. That one was just close enough to be readily doable for me. New Jersey is just far enough that it generally isn't, and anything in the middle of the country definitely is too far away for me to participate. I'm sorry about the loss of Union, though, for the sake of those who attended and enjoyed it. From the photos, looks like it was a good time. Lived I closer, I'd doubtless have been one of them!

For over 11 years, this Forum has pretty much self-moderated, with the agreed understanding that religion, guns, illegal activities, and POLITICS have no place here.

We go to a movie theater for relaxation and entertainment, and if someone stands up and begins shouting their religious beliefs, their efforts are counterproductive.

I can't help but notice a pattern, in that those who insist on making political posts here seem to come from the same political perspective. If I agree with the message, I'm embarrassed by the inappropriateness of venue. It doesn't belong here.

If I disagree with the message, I'm annoyed that I must be assailed with such proselytizing in a place where I come for relaxation, entertainment, and (in this case) education. It doesn't belong here.

Nobody, but NOBODY will well-served by this lack of self-discipline.

Forums have died in the past because of exactly this sort of thing. I'd hate to see it happen here, but with the lack of active moderation (Andreas cannot delete inappropriate posts), this is a real possibility.

For whatever it's worth, if it continues, I'll be leaving. I won't take such a step lightly, but there's a reason I don't do Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other out-of-control rant-fests. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere here, until lately.

I have friends from both sides of the political aisle, and I ask them all please, PLEASE, let's all exercise self-control here when it comes to politics.

I have a really soft spot for irony and I was noticing the same thing! My fondness for irony is what makes my arseholiness unique, or so I've been told.

But on a more serious note- Union, if it doesn't happen, will certainly be a bummer. But here's hoping ALL of us stay safe, from communists to full Galt, and everyone in between- whether by design or accident. If you get bored, I know where some cool records are for sale... nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

There's a benefit for all the shows such as Wayne, Orlando, and the APS Expo to have a strong show in the middle of the country. It allows collectors to visit a sale in any corner of the country and know they can get a treasure delivered to a central mid-country show and from there back to their general location. I've been to Orlando and Wayne three times each. Every time I've purchased several items because I knew the network of collectors could get those items to Union. I've also been part of that same network both delivering and picking up things headed back to the West Coast. I estimate that a full third of my load going to Union this year will be delivered along my route or handed off to someone at Union. The same is true on my return route.

Regarding a replacement for union. Lynn Bilton had announced a new show to take place in the Cleveland Ohio area the week before Union. Ron Sitko was distributing his advertising flyers for him. Apparently Lynn had the thing booked and ready to go. However, I rather think that the virus situation has put the kibosh on this new venue. Clearly, Lynn intended his show to take over for union. I would expect him to attempt to revive his plans next year.

Any venue located in the Eastern Time Zone really doesn't qualify as a "central, mid-country show" replacement for Union -- at least not by folks living in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones.

Consider:
NY to Cleveland is around 500 miles.
LA to Cleveland is over 2300 miles, or over 4 times as far.

Well... again, if someone there has the ability to organize it, I don't know why not. Austin would be cool! I mean, that's the thing. Lynn Bilton is a phono guy, and the Cleveland area at one time did have a well known antique show including LOTS of phono stuff/ collectors at the Richfield Coliseum, if I recall.

All I'm saying is that if you are heading west to east Cleveland is only another 5 ish hours, unless you drive like me, then it's 3. Is that worth still having a show- or not?

I believe the June Ohio show is cancelled and will be rescheduled . I think that the Union show should be cancelled and maybe the Donley family will schedule a final show in 2021. I know quite a few sellers and buyers are not taking the chance of travelling .
I am in south jersey and due my work i am pretty much in isolation working 12 hours shifts . I hope everyone is well and look forward to seeing everyone at a future show. Steve
