Can anyone beat this one that just turned up on ebay Australia? I've seen some horrible fakes, but this takes the cake...

There is one thing that all of these repros have in common: that annoying stamped brass horn and soldered elbow. When I see those even as a replacement on a real machine, it makes me sick! They also have the cheapest sound box and extremely odd shaped cases like the triangle shaped one shown in the previous post, and not to mention that they're made in India!!! What an insult to HMV!

Both are amazing! I wonder if I could leave one of them in my cabin, to scare the mice away?

Even more annoying is two stamped horns.Energ15 wrote:There is one thing that all of these repros have in common: that annoying stamped brass horn and soldered elbow.
I think the machine subject of the thread is still nicer looking than this one...

Keep them coming - the photos are great! Hideous, but great! A friend of mine just bought an early crapophone only because he wants the Number 32 motor in it. Usually they're portable motors...

Don't they know you can't play the label?? Maybe that's one of those super-rare red label Columbias from the 1940s which they give you FREE with the purchase of the machine. Those Crapos are getting wierder (is that a real word?) every year.

But the one with two horns is an ultra-rare stereo machine!

I love the craftsmanship of that first one, with the crooked Nipper decal and the cutouts in the cabinet that look like they were chunked out with a dull kitchen knife. Would be fun to see, if I saw one of these in a friend's house, if I could keep from busting out laughing, they are equally offensive to the eyes and ears.
