My wife (yes, you read that right) has wanted a Columbia Baby Regent table lamp since she saw one at Stanton's years ago (yes, you read that right too!)
I couldn't pass this up as it is gorgeous, close to home and, the right price (I think -- don't know the value).
It plays as good as it looks. I believe it's the original finish. If it's not, someone did one heck of a job restoring it. The finish is blinding.
Scoured the web and the forum for more info and didn't find much.
Any help would be appreciated. I'd love to know about when it was made and to find an owners manual.
Thanks in advance
Marty

That looks really nice. I am also a fan of the Columbia "looks like furniture but it's a phonograph" models. I recently acquired a nice Princess to add to the collection.

Does your wife have a special lamp in mind for it, or is that something yet to be found (hint, hint)?

From Baumbach's book: yours is the later baby regent. The early version, introduced in 1911 for $100, had doors over the horn. The one you have, with "tone leaves" was introduced in 1913, also at $100. It was offered in both mahogany and oak.

If you're happy with the price you paid, then it is the right price!Marty Bufalini wrote:My wife (yes, you read that right) has wanted a Columbia Baby Regent table lamp since she saw one at Stanton's years ago (yes, you read that right too!)

Nicest one I've seen!
Maybe someone here can post a photo of the missing needle cup for Marty's new find? It's probably a covered cup for disposing of old needles. How 'bout it??
