HOT JAZZ SATURDAY NIGHT IS BACK!

Post by tesch1932 »

Hi,

I'm sure some of you are from the Baltimore-Washington metro area. If you are, you should know about Hot Jazz Saturday Night, a long-running show on 88.5 WAMU, which was cancelled two years ago. On it, Rob Bamburger shared a wide variety of music soberly and scholarly-ly, as well as obscure tidbits and stories.

Well, he's back. You can listen here each week, and the program is available to listen to for a week after broadcast. https://wamu.org/show/hot-jazz-saturday-night/

Please check it out, so it doesn't go away again :)

How strong do they broadcast? I might try to pick it up with a good aerial here in Virgina.

Playing the link right now. Execllent! I really miss "Sunday Best" from WEMU, Ypsilanti, MI. I would appreciate it far more now than I did years ago, when it was on the air.

Thanks!

What a great program, and three hours, thanks for the link! I really like the audio quality of what I've heard so far.

Sunday Best was the best! Back in the '70s, WDET, WUOM. Even classical WQRS had such programming.

Roland, this is an internet broadcast, you don't need an "aerial" or even a radio, just an internet connection and your computer or phone or ipad...

Just click the link to take you to the page and then click "Play All" - voila...

But where's the fun in that? What about warming up the old Atwater-Kent or Radiola, twiddling the dials, and "listening in"? ;)

Unfortunately, the old Atwater Kent doesn't pick up FM...

Listening to the Sept. 19 show now. Very enjoyable. Thanks for the heads up.

Can't get FM on the old Capehart ? You can get a converter.
