Mmmm... I once was offered one of these machines in working order for EUR 1000, from an antique seller whom i used to frequent in search of records. It was a bargain, but i simply couldn't take it, I was afraid to bring home this huge machine without consulting my wife...

It would be difficult to establish a "going rate" for one of these, as they so rarely appear on the market.
With a pre-sale estimate of £1000/£2000 plus auction fees of almost 30%, this will probably be no bargain.

This is a truly magnificent machine. This particular one appears in almost immaculate condition. As an overseas collector I think that the shipment costs are what puts one off. I recall that few years ago a Mod. 1 was on sale in Rome (it was almost beyond "restoring condition" due to the missing of some of the mechanical parts) and another one is in a collection of a fellow Italian collector. Interestingly a Mod. I was offered as a gift to Pope Pius XI by the Italian branch of HMV (there is a picture which I will try to find and upload).

Unfortunately it is missing the remote control button pedestal, though.HMV130 wrote:This is a truly magnificent machine. This particular one appears in almost immaculate condition.

How does the horn size in this machine compare with the other re-entrant models produced. Is the horn the size of the 202 for example
I am interested in all forms of audio media including: gramophones, phonographs, wire recorders, the tefifon, reel to reel tapes, radiograms and radios.

I can't remember the exact sizes but it's similar to the 194

I thought it was the same size as the HMV-202 and HMV-203.
Only turned sideways.

Yes unfortunately it is missing. However for what I recall it was an optional extra with the gramophone. Am I wrong?Orchorsol wrote:Unfortunately it is missing the remote control button pedestal, though.HMV130 wrote:This is a truly magnificent machine.
