Unusual cylinder cabinet

Post by MTPhono »

Are any of you familiar with this cylinder cabinet? I'd like to learn more about it. It might be a craftsman's homemade cabinet.

If so that's quite a craftsman. Jerry

I have had this cabinet for about 10 years - bought from a collector in FL. I have always wondered about its origins. The under-glass post reminded me of this cabinet.

Very different. I agree with Jerry, if it is a one of, it was made by a skilled craftsman.

I have seen cabinets before with these type of cylinder pegs, but never

one that was as tall as these pegs are. I believe the cabinets I have seen in the

past were made by Salter, but I have never seen one exactly like this style, but similar.

Very cool cabinet, you are lucky to have found it.

All the best,

David & Lerria

Nice score. Wish I could find just one of any kind of cylinder cabinet! It’s a lot more organized neater and easier to get the record you want than just bunching them on a shelf, table, or a cardboard box like I have to because I cannot find a single one. The only antique music cabinets I can ever find are sheet music cabinets!

It makes me ponder...we’re there any combo sheet music/record cabinets?

Or piano roll/record cabinet combos?
