What a bunch of tomfoolery.

Seeing a record with a second hole drilled would bring to mind a record that was adapted to play on a cheap home record cutting machine of the time.

I once found a 1960's Stan Getz Lp with a hole drilled right through the jacket, the record label, and exiting out the reverse of the jacket. If you aligned the position of the record in the jacket just right, you could see through the exit wound haha.
But other than that the disc was in superb condition. Perhaps this was done as an anti-theft device, or on a whim of a curious 8-year old

Many lps in 'commentator' pre-issues have these or similar markings to avoid resale, i suppose.

Yup, that's what it was!

I wouldn't be sniffy about these posts... This is also a funny part of our hobby... Who hasn't ever played a record in reverse, when there was a broken spring and the tt could be rotated counterclockwise? My father did, when young, and he passed that odd tradition to me. And I've played many records in reverse... Later on this has become much easier, with the sound file processors, or the modern tts that can play in reverse, or at an infinitely variable playing speed.. my modern tt i bought for a mere 150 bucks can do all that! I can play at any speed between 16 and 160 rpm, play in reverse, simulate a lean off the motor...
I even wrote the lyrics of some songs in reverse, and the music, and learned how to sing them in reverse... Even taught my children!

I've played 78's on a Victrola each year at a spring show my wife's quilting group does. Lots of people tell me they can remember their grandparents having a "wind-up machine like that", or "stacks and stacks of 78's". One lady said she remembers her two brothers "enjoying" some old 78's at Gramma and Granpa's farm. One brother was in the barn loft throwing 78's out, while the other was on the ground shooting at them with a shotgun. Tomfoolery for sure!
