Just for fun, for TMF members in Brooklyn - photo of a label for the "Noisy-Bee Music Store", with "Branches All Over Brooklyn".

Re: Noisy Bee Music Store, Brooklyn
This tidbit, appearing on the same page as the bit about Noisy Bee, caught my eye. I tell ya, those tasteless bricklayers and mechanics are just ruining our culture!
The G. T. Williams Co., Inc., Victor wholesaler, 272 Flatbush avenue extension, covering Brooklyn, Long Island and parts of New England, is doing a satisfactory business, according to G. T. Williams, head of the concern. …In a statement to a representative of The World Mr. Williams pointed out that sales of dance records and jazz music of all kinds are far in excess of the demand for the better type of music. He declared that this condition will exist until the value of the campaigns of education, including those being conducted in the schools through music memory contests, music weeks, etc., is realized. He also placed the responsibility for this preponderance of demand for jazz on the fact that office workers of all kinds, bookkeepers, clerks, etc., who, in a fair proportion of cases, favor music of the better type and formerly were able to satisfy their musical desires, are not now able to do so to such a large extent because of the 'fact that their salaries have not kept pace with price advances. The big buyers now are the skilled artisans, such as carpenters, mechanics of all kinds, bricklayers, etc., and the musical tastes of this class of people runs more to the lighter types of music.

That's funny drh.
The musical tastes of four out of five "of this class of people" runs more to the lighter types of music.
No William Tell Overture for them! No sir!
Besides, it's "NOYSY."
James

I’m doing my part! (Actually, I’d much rather listen to the Banner record in the original post!)

Oh dear! Imagine stereotyping whole classes of people based on the music they listen too
The more things change, the more they stay the same...

This came from Scribner's Magazine, 1905, and this bird doesn't care what type of music is played!
FYI, we might be missing something, as Charles Nuttall (from Australia) made lots of political commentary. Can't make out the phonograph name and it may provide the jokes true intent. Whatever, we all know a bird like this one.
James.
