Possible location with many rare/desirable DDs? Please help

Post by RolandVV-360 »

I recall from a month or two ago a Facebook post of someone selling Diamond Disc 51542, "Charleston", by the California Ramblers that had a very "popular" reply, wherein someone was confused as to why the selling price was so high ($350). He went on to say that he had seen many copies of the record, plus several of them that he had encountered were in a booth filled with 78s and DDs at an antique store some where in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. After looking back to find the post,, it seems that I have lost it. If possible, could anyone either link me to the Facebook post or maybe point me in the direction of this elusive store? I would love to dig their shelves, which were shown in a picture that the feller posted in the replies section (78s were packed onto shelves, all in Kraft yellow Bags Unlimited sleeves). Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer any help.

Wow ! $350 !

I have that record and will put it on my Podcast in the near future. I did not realize it had such a high price.

I should buy a copy. That would instantly drop the value to $5. :)

I'd still be willing to pay you $10 for it.

I was responding to George's posting about the value dropping to $5 if he bought one.

I was the one who listed "Charleston" on Facebook, it's a clean copy and they usually get over $300 on ebay (sometimes much more). Other discs such as Campus Cut-ups discs will command similar prices; heck, if it's a half-decent song on Diamond Disc, that alone makes it worth $50 :D

Unfortunately I don't remember any comments about a flea market with good DD's... I probably would have driven to VA if it seemed like there might be treasures for the picking...
