It is a bit of a basket case, but parts from another machine may fit, (or be altered to fit). Even making a lid from another lid is not impossible. SP stands for special order, typically, serial numbers start at 501 and this is 501. These machines were produced in Victor’s “Art Shop”. If someone is looking for a serious project, (John), on a very rare machine. The person has the doors, but the lid is missing. This may be a one of a kind and she is asking $125.00.

What the heck IS it? Judging from what's left of it, what's so special about it, I wonder?

I am not looking for a project, but I wrote to the seller to see what was left. Because of the serial number and model I would think that it is worth saving. I hope so anyway.

OK, found it. I knew I had seen this model someplace. Check this out: http://www.victor-victrola.com/370.htm
More info on the SP models: http://www.victor-victrola.com/SP.htm
Maybe the one on offer is a prototype? Perhaps it belonged to someone with a connection to the VTMCo factory, given the proximity to Camden.

It appears even the regular VV-370 is very rare. So this one is fascinating.

I really hope somebody can save this - because of the uniqueness, or "historical value" if I may be so bold... Maybe, the price could come down once negotiations begin for somebody, making it even more tempting.

I had conversation with the seller, which abruptly stopped when I tried to make arrangements to pick it up, wonder what's going on. . . .
