Someone shared this at another forum, so in like kind, I'm sharing it here.

The builder admits it sounds terrible, but what fun!

I always thought it would be cool to build a steam powered phonograph... Now, I know why it isn't... :roll: ;) :lol:

Sounds like it has about 90 percent wow & flutter. If you could get that ironed out, might not be too bad.

The steam effusion might not be great for record labels either. Could reduce static buildup on the record itself though.

I think the addition of a governor, (rather than what appears to be a "throttle governor"), would be a great help.

What is the amp meter ?? Or is that an RPM gauge. Those sterling motor phonographs play better. Tom

Since it is claimed to be a "Steampunk" steam phonograph, the meter/gauge is probably just for looks... along with the wood knobs on the front.

The gauge is for RPM and works by magnetism--source, the video description.
