PARLEZ-VOUS FRANCAIS

Post by tictalk »

I don't plan on becoming a European Machine collector just yet but I kept getting outbid on the machines I had really came after at the Hazelcorn Auction so I kept my number up on these two French machines. I first had my eye on the Girard Le Menestrel, then my wife saw the Blue Pathé Gem knock off and thought the Rooster would match her rooster theme in the kitchen so what mama wants mama gets .

Two very lovely machines! I've always loved the elaborate Art Nouveau design of the Menestrel, and have a green one which can play both regular and Salon cylinders. I've owned several different color Gaulois over the years, with various horns, but currently just have a green one with iridescent glass horn. Both are beautiful.

Nice score!

Those are really nice looking machines. Really like the crane and glass horn.

Congratulations on two great machines. They would be a great addition to any collection.

Magnifique! (We have now exhausted my command of French.) I love the decoration of the little Pathé machine.

Fantastic Pathés! European machines are a lot of fun to collect.

Like Rene I have collected 6 of the Pathé Gaulouis with various horn configurations. They are great machines, especially with the glass horns. Most of the glass horns are reproductions but there was one original at the Hazelcorn auction. I tried to get it but was outbid. I have only seen one other original horn in person.
