I got this case a while back and assumed it was probably a complete refinish job. But I went through first to clean first with denatured alcohol. What I found was original finish and a decent banner sticker.
I’m still working on the hole in the lid. But I’m amazed at the original finish is still there. And the front banner!

That turned out really well! The cabinet seems to have a lot of crevices.

That looks like ink all over it, rather then paint.

Doesn't denatured alcohol act as a stripper for shellac?

Yes. I believe shellac flakes are dissolved in alcohol, so it works to remove too. In my case, I kept pulling a red-ish shellac that had been applied over the original green oak stain. Also, I was very careful around the banner as the alcohol will pull that off too.
