The Revere -- http://www.victor-victrola.com/14-1.htm -- sounds okay if it's positioned in the corner of a room with hardwood or tiled flooring. If there's carpeting, especially wall-to-wall, most of the upper range will be lost, along with some of the bass.

There's been speculation, over the years, that this model might have been designed for public areas, such as hotel lobbies, restaurants or speakeasies. With the downward pointing large horn, there's no chance of some drunk falling into a fragile grille. Of course, there's no way to verify this.
