Victrola Crank Escutcheon Sold for $125?

I agree that it's a lot for an escutcheon but it was only used for the Victrola model VV-XVII, and I'm pretty sure for the VV-130. Strangely, the fancier VV-XVIII had a plain gold-plated escutcheon.
If you needed one and wanted it in a hurry the Ebay example would be the way to get it.

Yes, I don't imagine that would be an easy escutcheon to find, and being a higher end machine, the $125 outlay wouldn't seem so bad if it completed your machine.
Especially when you never know how long it's going to take for the next one to come along.

Just when I think I have a firm grasp on current pricing trends, something comes along that makes me wonder.... Like this. I see sellers struggling to get $50 to $75 out of a plain Columbia Grafonola or Victor Victrola right now. Putting my sarcasm aside, it is pretty obvious to the casual observer that the early machines and related parts are a completely different price point! And, I agree with the previous responses that a quality original part to complete a machine is probably the motivation in the final selling price.... But, wow...

It’s no wonder that machines get parted out. The parts are often worth much more than the complete machine.
